Buyer not paid

I had a buyer make a best offer on an item and I accepted, but after two days they had not paid. They then messaged me saying they hadn't read the description properly and didn't want the item. I was somewhat annoyed about this and opened up a case saying the buyer hasn't paid. Four days later, I have closed the case. I have now find out that the buyer will receive an unpaid item note on their account. Will it massively effect their ability to buy on eBay? And will they be informed?

If it is their first non-payment strike they may be able to get it removed, if they do it often then hopefully they will be prevented from buying. They will get messages telling them the case has been closed, if they know Ebay then they will also know they get a strike.

Put them on your blocked buyers list, also add their e.mail address to the list in case they try to buy from you again.

Do you have your preferences set tight? You can block people with a certain number of strikes, those that do not have a credit card on file etc.

I do not bother with Best Offer as it means you can't use the immediate payment required option which stops a lot of these time wasters, might be worth considering.

The problem is with using a phone to shop, the full description doesn't show up so they will buy something they would like it to be and not what it is.
