I have lots of decent stuff. Always send it to charity but currently saving ofr a house so would love to get something for the better stuff. Unused brand new mobs wrap etc

But I don't want to get into any hassle / refunds all of that

Is it worth it? I have to set up an account and PayPal

Tomorrow I will take good photos. How do I calculate postage? Do I get the sellers address? When does payment happen

Thanks so much

Will arm myself with brown paper tomorrow

I don think I want to bother with the auction bit. Also I live in Ireland so does that make it more awkward

Sorry for being ignorant but what exactly are you hoping to sell? It may make a difference to any answers.

Setting up an account, and paypal is easily done.

Are you in ROI or NI? If NI, you can go on the royal mail website for postage costs. It is relatively simple to work out costs, especially if you are selling lots of the same sort of thing. I don't know re ROI.

If someone buys your item, you can see their address on the order details on your selling page (that will become clear once a sale is made). The address is also in the details on paypal once a payment has been made.

Have a belly bandit. Doppler. Moby wrap. New hobbs jacket. Breast pump.
I can go to NI to post

This might help with postage costs, but if you need to know about how Ebay works in detail there is an Ebay new to selling forum (on Ebay). I know people on MN are very helpful but the Ebay forums are dedicated to buying/selling.

List your items on a Sunday evening, 7 days listing then you'll get maximum exposure and your auctions end on a Sunday, peak time.
Start your auctions low then you get more interest. I would always do auctions. A lot if people don't even look at buy it now stuff, I know I don't because I prefer an auction where I'd get a bargain in theory.
Take lots of good photos of your stuff, the backgrounds matter, so on a white sheet or wooden floor, hanging on a door etc and well lit.
Describe the condition of your items, give the reason why your selling, add the fact that it's from a pet/smoke free home.

mrsmeerkat don't bother with ebay in Ireland. Try donedeal, adverts.ie or a local Facebook selling page. The baby stuff will go easily. Maybe ebay best for jacket though.

Have been bidding for item which expires Monday 13th April. Seller has counter-offered higher and now taken it off the listing - as a total novice am I obligated to buy at that price? reading the t&c's it looks like I'm in a binding contract..?

mrsmeerkat · 10/04/2015 10:49

Planning on using done deal too Tarka. Might try it but lot more hassle arrange meet up etc? Least with the other my dh works in the north so can stick in the post

Caramel - the auction hasn't ended? If so, no you are not bound to buy. Has the seller ended and relisted at higher price?

AnulTheMagnificent · 11/04/2015 00:20

Just a note here - brown paper is not very good for parcels, it is OK for things that are boxed and if you tape it well but I have had some very ripped packages, soggy ones too.

PeppermintCrayon · 11/04/2015 00:22

If you're brand new people may not buy as you won't have any feedback. Better to buy a few things first to build it up.
