Can I appeal neg feedback?

I sold a scarf on EBay a few weeks ago on BIN. When I was packing it to ship I noticed that there are a couple of holes in it that I hadn't seen previously. I immediately refunded the buyer and sent a message explaining the reason for the refund. The buyer replied saying "no worries it happens". So all ok.
I was then bombarded with messages asking to still purchase even with damage but by then I had taken scarf to local repairer. I explained to buyer that I was waiting for a verdict from them. It was suspected to be moth damage so repairer said she would have a go at the repair but could I keep it in my freezer for a week as she didn't want any moth eggs hatching in her business premises. So I told buyer this, put scarf in freezer and it is still there as life took over.
Now I have been left negative feedback and it's nasty too.
I feel that although I am responsible for the mistake. It was genuine and I acted as well as I could when I realised the item wasn't as described. I never agreed to sell it to them after the refund as I was waiting to see if it could be mended.

Is there anything I can do?

Sorry for long post. Wanted to explain situation clearly.

What does the FB say? It should be factual buy certainly shouldn't be personal or abusive. Speak to Ebay

Ask E-bay, they are very quick with help (I found).

Did you send a cancellation request to get your fvf refunded?

I would go to live chat and ask - they prob won't delete it though.
