Sent wrong item

I've been sent the wrong item that I bought. The seller wants to give my address to the other buyer (who she thinks has my item) and vice versa, send me the postage costs so we can effectively then swap them ourselves.

It seems reasonable but I remember reading something similar on here (but can't find it) and can't remember what the advice was.

WWYD?

no - send it back to the seller. She will need to pay return postage costs to you. And send it tracked.

I've done it -the seller sent me a prepaid courier label,I sent it off and got proof.
I received my item, and the other buyer did,and I was refunded the cost for my trouble.

Personally I'd only handle it as kittenwrestler suggests.

What happens if the other buyer agrees but then doesn't send your item to you or return the item to the seller?
