Feedback - Who gives feedback first? Wot no feedback?

Hi,

I'm still getting to grips with selling on eBay. I've sold 11 items this month but only received feedback on 3 of them. I've waited for the buyer's feedback before I've given them any feedback in case they're not happy. Is this the right way round? Just wondering whether I'm not getting much feedback because I'm not giving any!

Lindt You would soon find out if anything was wrong with your items,buyers are very quick to tell you of any problems sweetie,feedback can be weeks being given as some people only do their feedback every month or so and no feedback is good in e-bay land as the buyer has not shown any complaints so you get full marks for everything making it a win win situation for you.I personally always give feedback when I have received payment stating "instant payment thank you 5*" etc and that gets my side of everything done and dusted but people have their own preferences.So no feedback is good feedback in the scheme of things.

As a seller I only give feedback once I have received it, that way I can correct the situation if any feedback is (unfairly) poor.

As a buyer, I try to give feedback on all ocassions.

It's not compulsory to give feedback.

Thanks Lunastarfish. I think I once read somewhere not to give feedback as a seller until you'd received feedback from the buyer first but I can't remember where I read it. You'd think I'd have got used to it by now as I've been selling things (very sporadically) for about 6 years but only have feedback for 29 items. I guess my buyers are neither overwhelmed or underwhelmed!

When I sell I always put a note on the invoice asking the buyer to contact me if they have a problem with the item and stating that positive feedback will be reciprocated. About 75% do leave feedback, to date all positive, so this system may work.
As a buyer myself I always try to leave feedback as soon as the item is received

there is no point withholding fb until after the buyer leaves theirs - not like you can neg them any more is it.

It is voluntary anyway - not integral, and many don't leave any. Not really much of an issue really.
