waiting in fee??

Just received a message from seller saying that they will give me a 15 minute window for picking up and will charge £2 for it. If I don't make the window they will post anyway and still charge the £2 on top. I'm picking up as the item is glass and local ( and the postage was v high). Has anyone heard of a waiting fee before?

no - and they are having a laugh - did they say on the auction they charge for pickup? I bet they didn't. They can't add fees after an item ends. How are they going to charge you. Are they making you pay by paypal too? How are they going to post this - by RM which won't cover glass I guess?

I would neg them and shop elsewhere tbh

Taking the piss. They can't charge you for collecting it. Them telling you a time seems okay to me, but not charging you a fee for it.

I have messaged them to say I am happy with a pickup window but not with being charged for it.
No it didn't say that in the listing, and I only bid as I am very close because the postage quoted was extortionate.
I'll see what happens now :)

I'd report that to Ebay personally, I'd not be surprised if it contravenes their policy, although I can't think which policy..?

"I think £2 is a small fee to charge for my time - I usually charge my clients £65/ hour, so you are getting me cheap at a mere £8/hour pro-rata"

And I do hope you neg too. And I wouldn't agree to cancel it and allow him to get his fees back. Call it your own fee or something.

Please report to ebay, he can't just tack on fees not mentioned in the listing. Don't cancel the sale or leave feedback until ebay have responded, otherwise you lose the opportunity to comment or complain as a customer since you are not his customer any more.

Used to be allowed for Ebay sellers to impose a collection fee, but it's obviously bad idea. I would double check with Ebay Live Chat.

Absolutely astounded how cheeky of him,you are not allowed to add on £s after the sale it is against e-bay rules so notify e-bay and send them a copy of his e-mails to you,he obviously doesn't need to sell on e-bay if he charges £65.00 an hour for his time does he ? if he post's to you will he charge for walking to the post office ?what a prat !!certainly a good way to get a bad name for himself on e-bay I wonder how often he has done this kind of thing.

We agreed to cancel (after a further message that it 'was no skin off his nose') before I checked the live chat ebay thing.
I've been on ebay a long time and never encountered such an arrogant d*ckhead. Ah well, I live and learn :)

Someone tried this on me once.

It's was a small children's toy, she wanted a ridiculous amount of postage, which is why no one else bid, it was local so I asked to collect.

When I arrived she requested the winning amount plus the postage amount, and tried to tell me that eBay policy states that the postage fee is part of the final price whether it is posted or not.

I left asked MN then went back and told her she could either sell me the toy for the amount I won it for or I would report her to eBay, she sold me the toy but left my very nasty feedback (which eBay later removed).
