Postage cost more than I paid.

I have just bought an item which I think was a good price (it was only a few pounds), paid £6.50 for p &p but notice on the package it cost the seller £15 to send (they did it 'signed for'). In summary they haven't made any money on the bid and infact paid £6 for the whole deal.

They haven't said anything but I feel bad for them, am I being soppy?

Did it say on the listing that they would be sending it signed for? Or did you ask for it?

If yes I would probably offer to give them the difference.
If not then it was their choice to send it by the more expensive postage option and they should have charged accordingly, I would not be offering them anything.

now i sell things online quite regularly and i have been the sender with the expensive costs.

if its in a load of parcels im sending, them sometimes i dont realise the cost/profit ratio.

sometime when i do realise i shrug it off anyway cos i will probably make it on the next item anyway.

The description just read, 'postage reflects the cost of sending securely' so I am presuming they have wildly underestimated the cost.

I sell and buy quite a bit and have started using myhermes for larger items- the post office costs seem really high these days!

Oh dear, that was silly of them. If you feel like you got an amazing deal then you could always send them a few more quid but I probably wouldn't. Id also leave them some excellent feedback.

Zulubob I would say you have a seller who ebay should be proud of really as so many sellers would have cancelled the sale if they had such a price differance in the postage,if you look at some of the sellers who really overcharge on postage you would be amazed.I would also leave 1st class feedback and offer to pay maybe 1/2 towards the extra postage if it where me.
