eBay: sent item without receiving payment

Sold two items on sat night. Printed labels and packaged both. Received payment for one, went to post office this morning, sent it, came back home to realise I've sent the wrong one. Contacted buyer asking about payment, he said he bid by mistake (he bid 4 times!!) and doesn't want the item.
I realise this is my own fault for not double checking what I was sending so wrote back saying I was happy to reduce postage costs to £0 and sell the item for £10 (rather than £10.50+£3.20) or if buyer not happy with this could he return the item. I haven't received response to this message I sent at 11am.
Went back to post office to check if the item was still there but they had already sent it away.
I'm not getting money/item back, am I?

Oh dear, it doesn't sound like you will get your money back. Although he may still respond to your email.

You could ask him to refuse to accept the parcel then it will get sent back to you for free (actually, I'm not sure that would work.....????)

Good luck.

unless he returns it to you then no - you have lost your money. Did you put a return address on the parcel?

Chrissy41 · 13/10/2014 17:33

but do make sure you file a non paying bidder case against your buyer after 48 hours have passed.

processedbeats · 13/10/2014 17:43

Yes I put a return address on...and yes will file a case once the 48h hit
I've got a feeling he won't send it back, oh well, lesson learntHmm

I did that once Sad

So now, I package as soon as I sell, but I don't seal the package until I'm paid.

Then I can't get in a muddle.

oh dear. What a pain and damn cheeky buyer. I agree open a non payment case if you don't hear from them - they obviously were bidding without intending to pay. Best case - they receive, like item and pay you. You could try asking CS about it at least you alert them to a bad buyer (they may not do much).

Don't forget to send the one that was paid for!

processedbeats · 14/10/2014 21:43

Thanks all, buyer responded to another message I sent saying he will send the package back. So now all I can do is wait and see if it gets delivered. If it's not here next week this time I'll open a case in resolution centre.

He is still in the wrong for bidding with no intention to pay. BBL

Chrissy41 · 15/10/2014 19:00

tell him to refuse delivery rather than send it back at his expense.

Any update?
