OK - genuinely looking for your opinion on this, as I think I'm justified in this but totally willing to be told I'm wrong.

I recently purchased a second hand ('vintage') leather jacket on eBay. It was clearly worn in and gently battered, which I'm cool with. I paid £166 for it.

However on arrival it appears to have three painted montages on it - a turtle on the back, what I think is the word Metallica on the waist at the back and Red Hot Chilli Peppers logo on the left arm; all have been sort of scrubbed off / blacked out.

I contacted the seller saying I was unhappy as this wasn't clear in the pictures, no was it mentioned in the description. He claims they aren't painted out pictures on the jacket, just the natural colouring of the leather and I can't expect a brand new jacket.

What do you think? I want to raise a case against him if you guys agree, but don't know how to - can only see a 'Return' function on my dashboard which he's unwilling to let me do.

I would open a case and return for a refund - a seller cannot refuse that.

From the item listing scroll down and at the bottom contact seller then you can choose not as described or return there?

£166 for a battered old leather jacket. Madness. get it sent back recorded and open a paypal/ebay dispute.

not standard signed for - it will need courier or special delivery to be adequately insured for loss.

Yep I can see all those logos you mention

It's certainly not 'natural' colouring.

Personally I would not pay anything like £166 for this - was there a reason you thought it was worth so much ?

I would return for a full refund ) and thank my lucky stars I had come to my senses )

Item not as described. They do not have a chance of disputing this. Open a case. You will need to return for a full refund but make sure you send back with full tracking and proof of delivery. The worst you will be out is return P&P. They should pay it but might not. You could contact ebay CS and might end up with postage refunded too. Leave a neg and / or low stars for an unhelpful seller.

I'm sure someone might want the jacket with those things on BUT it should be described accurately.

I think you might get a better deal than £166 for a cool leather. Keep looking.

Bizarre of them to claim that logos have appeared naturally Hmm
Open a case I think.
