Winner unable to pay

The person who won my first ever ebay auction emailed me that unfortunately they are unable to pay (?paypal wouldn't let them), and asked that I offer the item to the second highest bidder.

I did so, and second highest bidder has accepted offer... how do I now delete the first winner from my 'sold' list, as ebay still thinks I'm going to receive money for it and is waiting to receive commission.

Am already thinking maybe ebay is too complex for me!

Thanks for your help.

I think the second one just pays and it goes from there. I have done second chance sale before but can't remember how it works. It wasn't complicated I do remember that - like a normal sale. Shame your first sale did this. Doesn't usually happen and at least they told you and just didn't just ignore the whole thing like some non payers.

I think you have to send a cancellation request to the first buyer so you can get your fees back. Once they accepted the cancellation you can request payment from the second chance buyer but I am not sure how you do that, I suppose you can send them an invoice.

I had a message like this today. It said the seller hadn't specified a postage method and I couldn't pay. I've messaged them in the hope they can sort it out otherwise it's stuck in my basket.

you can send a cancellation request but I would do a non paying bidder case as it is the only way you are guaranteed to get your fees back. Plus they can't neg after it is closed.

Thanks everyone... the buyer was really apologetic and helpful so I clicked the 'mutual decision to cancel' option in resolution centre. The buyer accepted this and now have confirmation from ebay that mt fees are being refunded.

I just feel bad for the buyer and hope it wasn't because I'd set up paypal wrong (although the buyer of the other item I sold had no problem).

Grrr, feel sure I didn't get this easily flummoxed nor this disproportionately emotionally invested in things pre bambinos....
