Item damaged

I've just sold an item on ebay and have realised it must have become damaged while washing it. What is the correct way to go about things now? Do I cancel the transaction, or just give a refund? Quite disappointed as I'd got a really good price for it.

Note to self - wash and check item before making the listing!

Email the buyer. Explain what has happened. Apologise profusely.

Is the item still wearable? If so, give. 2 options. Either say you are happy to post and offer a partial refund or cancel the sale and refund in full.

This has happened to me before. I think if you are polite, apologetic and keen to out things right, most buyers will respond positively.

In my case, the buyer still wanted the item and accepted the partial refund.

happened to me and I contacted the buyer and we agreed a partial refund
