Hello, not been selling on ebay for very long so this is probably really obvious! I recently sold an item of clothing and when I saw that buyer lived very locally I offered to let them collect for free. This went smoothly so I happily refunded postage amount on paypal and we've both left positive feedback, so no problems there. However just realised that ebay charge fvf on postage too so how do I get my 38p back? Not exactly a fortune I know but item sold for around £1 as I only had 2 bidders - so it's a big % of the final price!

eBay don't give partial FVF refunds.

And you should have taken cash if collected, never paypal.

Oh ok thanks - it's just that buyer had already paid by the time I noticed their address - thought I was being kind, oh well I put it down to experience. Just out of interest why wouldn't I accept PayPal for collected items in future? Surely this means as item is paid for I wouldn't be ripped off at front door or am I wrong?

Because the buyer can claim not received and as you didn't send it tracked you have no proof of delivery - and eBay would refund them in full. Which is why you always send items paid for by Paypal with online proof of delivery.
