can I trust this seller?

I bought an item recently. To cut long story short, I returned the item but seller is saying he hasn't received it. Just realised that I sent it to a different address to the one he gave me because I reused his envelope. I questioned this and he said it was his neighbour's as he was going away! He is now not answering my messages!

What shall I do next?

did you send it tracked? If so open a dispute and once asked add the tracking info. If no tracking then no - you have no proof of them having it back so you won't get a refund. You can neg and leave low stars though if you want.

Do you have proof of postage for the item? And the different address thing - that sounds very odd.

Thanks Butterfly. I did not send it tracked as he was only going to refund how much it cost him to send. I do have proof of postage.

Can't I report him to ebay cos of the different address he gave me?

I will neg but will it make any difference as he has over 200 positives

have you opened a not as described case? If not do that now and write in that you have returned it but seller is refusing to return

of course you must neg and leave low stars - it all counts against the seller.

I don't think you can trust this seller, no.

If you didn't send it via recorded or special delivery then I don't think there's much you can do apart from leaving a big, fat neg.

Thanks all. I will chase him one last time then open the case and neg.

I should have listened to my inner voice which kept saying to send recorded as I somehow felt it was going to end this way

sorry - I am totally wrong. A not as described case can be opened now. I think I need more coffee. Yes open a not as described now, state you returned it but the seller is denying receiving the item. Wait 8 days to escalate and hope eBay give you a no fault refund. And yes, definitely neg and leave low stars. State you returned the item but seller refuses to issue refund.
