Cardigan arrives with button missing, seller says to return for refund if I wish (which I do), but tells me she won't refund return postage.

Can she do that?

Doesn't seem fair to me. What can I do?

TIA

I had this issue and she's right, she doesn't have to. However apparently if you kick up enough fuss eBay will cover return postage.

Another alternative - Would you consider asking for a partial refund and replace the button yourself (if possible!)

yes she can - but you can of course neg and leave low stars. Have you opened a dispute? If not, do it now. Write that you don't want to pay return costs and eBay may give a prepaid label or a no fault refund instead.

Actually - ignore that, you have already returned. So too late for that - just feedback and stars then.

Thanks for replies.

I don't want a partial refund - I don't want the faff of finding a replacement button.

I've not opened a dispute. I've simply asked for return address, which she provided last night.

well if you open a dispute then eBay may give a no fault refund or prepaid label - you do have to ask though.
