Putting something back on eBay... Etiquette?

I've been buying reusable nappies to try different brands and now have several bundles of brands that I've used, washed and now want rid of. Some I haven't used at all. Is there anything I need to know/do/avoid? I'm new to eBaying and haven't sold anything on it before!

You can't sell used nappies on eBay - it is against the rules.

But in terms of etiquette if you buy an item you are of course entitled to sell it on eBay if you wish. Most people have one account to buy and another to sell. But don't bother listing used nappies on eBay - sell them elsewhere.

I've sold reusable nappies on eBay before - I think I had to list them as "new - other" and then in the description explain they were laundered but prev used etc. I recommend allowing international bids, I sold to a woman in Eastern Europe and got more than I bought them for (also bought second hand on eBay but I never got round to using them). Petallic - if reported your listing would be removed by eBay- they are not allowed. Just because you got away with it doesn't mean it is permitted. That is why eBay don't give you the option to list as used in that category.

Buttons they are reusable nappies. Of course they can be sold on Ebay. They aren't dirty Pampers!

As Petallic said, you just describe them as used. I sold all our reusable nappies on Ebay.

it's fine to re-use reusable nappies, and it's fine to sell reusable nappies. Just not on eBay, because eBay don't allow them any more, they changed the rules years ago. My eldest is 8 and I bought second hand nappy stuff for her, there were loads for sale, but when I tried to sell them a couple of years later my listing was removed and eBay threatened to ban me. I queried it, as I had bought them there in the first place, and was told the rules had changed. (This was when the listings were a lot simpler and it wasn't immediately obvious that they were a banned item).

You'd be better to sell them somewhere else.

Especially note the part under 'not allowed' which states 'Cloth nappies'

I think you owe Butterfly an apology, she is rarely wrong when it comes to ebay.

Oh dear. Didn't realise there was a problem with this. Some of the things are not nappies but accessories ie buckets. Any advice on reselling? Can I use original pictures?

I really, really did sell mine on Ebay though. I sold the bucket and the reusable wipes too. Are they gonna be after me now?!

You aren't supposed to use anyone else's digital pictures without permission, they have copyright.

It used to be fine to resell used nappies, I think the rules changed 5-6 yrs ago. Used nappies still get sold a lot on Ebay but you have to avoid obvious language while still making it clear what you've got.

So the ad would read "I bought these new & tried these lovely nappies out twice but not quite right for me" and you tick the "new" box in the listing specifics. Ebay will rap your knuckles if caught, I used to do short (3 day listings) & didn't get caught.

Jimmy - the only reason you sold them was because you weren't reported. Yes - there are sellers who list as new but sell used - but go ahead and report them and eBay will remove the listing, often within minutes of you reporting it.

And Toad - you need to take your own pics, don't steal someone elses.

I feel like a criminal now . I remember looking at other listings too to get an idea of what price to ask for. Mine were definitely of the 'I've only used a couple, the rest are untouched' variety but I definitely said 'used' and not 'brand new'.

OP, if you are on Facebook there are a lot of preloved nappy groups and you will only have to pay PayPal fees.

don't sell on FB/Gumtree and take paypal if someone is collecting though - cash only.
