Help with a bizarre buyer dispute

I sent a parcel last week and as it was 15 quid I sent it recorded, as suspiciously I've had loads of more expensive parcels go missing and paypal has refunded the buyer.

The parcel got signed for on Tuesday, by someone with the buyers surname at her address. Yet she contacted me yesterday to say it hasn't got there. I provided the tracking info, and she said they had a parcel that day which her mother signed for but the parcel I sent even though signed for they say they haven't had!

I'm not going to get a sting for this am I? Can't see Royal Mail refunding me. How the deuce can a parcel be missing if it was signed for?

I've offered to send the claim form off to Royal Mail to see what they say but imagine a dispute will be opened soon.

Make sure you have the tracking reference shown on the ebay dispatch details. she hasn't got a leg to stand on. definitely sounds like she is trying it on.

Dont involve royal mail. There is evidence its been delivered. Tell buyer yo open an ebay case and upload a copy of the tracking reciept and a screenshot of the delivery page. Ebay wont make you refund.

OK lovely thank you.

I can't really be bothered to fill in a form, she said the signature looked weird then oh maybe someone signed and the postman took it away by mistake?

Very odd.

I think the buyer is trying it on - as long as you add the tracking info to eBay you will be covered.

There is really no point in the buyer opening a case - and you don't want a defect on your account so don't tell them to do so.

How I left it is that I called Royal Mail who told me to send them a claim form and they will investigate further.

So not sure if just to do that or wash my hands of it and tell her she needs to call them and sort it out.

If I was you I would just make sure the tracking ref is added and then cease contact with the buyer.

shotyourfox · 09/08/2014 12:18

There is no point involving Royal Mail. The item was delivered to the address and signed for so they won't be able to assist further.

I disagree, RM track addresses that 'lose' a lot of parcels, it's worth reporting it. eBay will do the same, they have an alert on one of my buyers.

Stratter5 · 09/08/2014 23:35

Unless eBay were telling me porkies, that is. Which, frankly, wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

HaroldLloyd · 10/08/2014 11:13

I'm going to send the form off to Royal Mail I think it won't take long and it will keep her off my back.

Interesting they do that stratters, I don't use eBay that often but every time sell about 20 bits and funnily it'd always one more expensive package that seems to go astray.

Not sure how she is planning to get around her MUM signing for it but it will be interesting.

This sounds like she has realised she has been found out and is blaming her mum for the signing, funnily enough I had someone message me asking when I was posting an item which had been sent as soon as she paid, she had also left feedback to say she was delighted with it,it was only when I messaged back and said "do you realise you have left feedback that you had received it " did she admit to making a mistake. Not everyone out there is honest unfortunatley.

butterflybuttons · 10/08/2014 18:25

Feedback is not proof of delivery though - and would have no bearing on a not received case.

GemmaTeller · 10/08/2014 20:56

I'd be calling her bluff and casually mentioning bringing the police into the equation.

'oh, you didn't sign for it? someone must be impersonating you/must have stolen it, I need to give all the info and a copy of the signature to the police......'
