Duplo - best ways to list? I'm a fairly clueless seller!

Right I have used ebay for years but only very occasionally list anything myself.
I have some Duplo to sell and always thought it sold really well, but looking at some completed listings, it seems very random.

I don't know weather to list as one big job lot, or to separate into small bundles. I really hate how much ebay charge in fees, which is mainly why I tend to stick to local free selling groups. But I don't think I would get as much on there, plus I would have to decide on a price, rather than just start an auction.

Any advice?

From my experience, I would be quite generous with your lots. I sold 100+ plain bricks of various colours, and then a lot of about 40 animals/tractor/figure pieces with a few extras like a tree and animal food. It was a mixture from the Zoo set I bought for ds years ago and other bits. Both those lots sold for a good price IMO to quick payers.

I also pulled out a small lot of 3 linked pieces - that sold too but for a low price and the payer hasn't paid yet.

I put the number of pieces in the title of the listing, and was honest about the condition, obviously. But I'm currently getting free listings (?is that for everyone?) so it was well worth a try.

do you mind me asking how much you got? we are keeping a lot as my kids are still small but we have so much that its taking over the house!

I was amazed how much I got for the DCs' Duplo. It wasn't that far off retail!

I sold it in quite big lots and took lots of clear photos in bright sunlight. I also included close-ups of the Duplo logo on the bricks and made it quite clear in my listing that it wasn't Megabloks or "Duplo-compatible" bricks.

I also separated out the figurines and animals and so on and sold them in a separate lot.

Think about what is the quantity that you would like to buy if you were buying a first ever box for a 2-3yo child. Roughly 2-3 large shoeboxes worth, I should think, for each individual listing, but can go bigger if all specialist bits that all go together (like train track with carriages)

You get more for complete sets if relatively rare. I sorted out a zoo set, Winnie the Pooh set and Native American set and sold these on eBay. They were all complete or missing just one or two small parts. The rest of the blocks I sold as a job lot on Gumtree. Check the set number on sold listings on eBay to see if it is worth pulling out all the bits of a set.

Worth waiting til Sept Oct for the Xmas buyers? Also I think you can put it through the dishwasher to get it all really clean if my memory serves me? Not 100% on that but pretty sure I once did it with something like that.

I would definitely add to the listing that it has been washed (hand or dishwasher) as I think people like that with toys.

I am not sure I'd wait until October/November. You might face a lot more competition, and I've seen on here people can get quite sneery about secondhand Christmas presents. You also run the risk that if you don't sell it, you're stuck with it over Christmas and then the sales start, so you're going to be stepping over it and cursing it until February.

I know the low starting price has a big following, but personally I prefer to set my listings at the lowest price I'd be happy with, and anything else is a bonus. I don't risk being some lucky buyer's bargain of the year!
