Sold an expensive bag on buy it now 20 mins after taking pics and listing. Buying claiming metal lock very badly scratched - it was not when it left here but i have said I will refund/return it. Once refunded will that cancel selling fees? They are about £40?? Many thanks

yes - Paypal fees automatically refunded if you refund via the original payment in paypal - eBay fees; send them a cancellation request after refunding which the buyer needs to accept.

Watching with interest because I don't really know myself - what I did when someone returned an item to me (I paid postage return) was I refunded them via paypal, messaged them to say that I'd done it and at the same time asked them if they'd mind agreeing to the cancellation request for the item that I would be sending via Ebay. They did and I got my fees back. I've no idea what would have happened had they not agreed or responded to the request though.

but please do not refund a penny until the buyer has returned the bag. And tell them you will be checking your security marks and it needs to be returned in the condition in which it was sent.

Brilliant, thank you for your replies. The buyer has she would still like the bag so we haggling a partial refund hoping works similar way!

a buyer can refuse the cancellation if they want to be awkward - you would then need to take it up with eBay. If a buyer ignores the request it closes in 7 days and you will get your FVF refunded then.

It's seriel number is clearly shown on the listing so same bag would be returned or part refunded.

well a partial refund is entirely up to you. Don't let them bully you. Most sellers won't give a partial refund and will only refund in full when the item has been returned.

carrielou2007 · 01/08/2014 17:59

Would you believe it, we agreed a partial refund of the amount to replace the postman's lock and I grovelled my genuine apologies for not packing it better. Today it has appeared for sale at twice the price! Don't really care about the money it 'a that she lied!

I'm partially sighted (blind in one eye a little sight in the other) I was really worried with it being so bad I had missed it even on my pics. Ah well, hope she can sleep at night with her lies Confused

Not worded very well Shock i mean the bag is hers to do as she wishes I just worried myself about it for no reason. Luckily after I had partially refunded her I bought a new bag and purse from HOF and Harvey Nics Grin

which is why you never refund until the item has been returned - what a cheeky buyer she is.

lljkk · 01/08/2014 19:07

Report the listing to Ebay, OP, and tell the whole story to them. I don't know if that will work, but it's worth a try. Cheeky cheeky Fecker.

lljkk · 01/08/2014 19:07

ps: you should link to the new listing here, too. I wouldn't want to buy from such dishonest seller.

queenofthepirates · 02/08/2014 23:44

For the record, if the buyer doesn't approve the cancellation, it gets auto-cancelled and fees refunded after 7 days. If they refuse the cancellation, you can expect to get paid! They can get a non payer strike against them if you have refunded and they have refused the cancellation and accepted the refund. It's one of the small areas of ebay which go in the favour of the seller. The only fees you will pay are the 20p to paypal which is non refundable.

carrielou2007 · 03/08/2014 10:46

Thank you, I didn 't know that either ! I've calmed down a bit more now , it honestly was not the price she can sell for what she likes ( not sold yet ha ha!) it was the barefaced lie! Nasty, nasty lady Hmm

carrie did she show you pictures of the scratches or did she just tell you about them, personally I would have requested a return and then refunded her I don't do partial refunds at all it shows that the item is wanted by the buyer. It would be a good idea to put the item no. on here for our interest though.Wink
