hi. I need some advice. Been on eBay for years but have never had this happen before.

I put my buggy up for auction with a starting price of £250. Buyer bid and won the auction. I sent them a message saying congrats and telling them if they settled the invoice asap I could get the courier organised for monday.

got a message back saying that actually they had bought another buggy and wanted to retract their bid.

they were the only bidder so it is not like I can offer it to the next bidder.

what the hell do I do?

Stupidly, on the basis of the bid recieved I made an offer on a replacement buggy which is now waiting for me to settle it.

I emailed the buyer back and said that bids were binding and that the sale was final. I doubt though that she will pay me. Sad

help!

Contact ebay?

Go to the resolution centre (top right hand, under 'help and contact' and file a non paying bidder case. The buyer will be given a reminder and a short time to pay. If they don't you will be informed by Ebay and can request a refund of your final value and listing fees and re-list if you'd like to.

It is imho worth adding the words "relisted due to timewaster non paying bidder" on your item listing so that viewers don't assume that it's a duplicate listing or that you're doing anything untoward.

Ebay info (looking quickly) says
"You must pay for any item you commit to buying."
"You can only retract a bid under specific circumstances.
For example, if you meant to bid $10.00 but accidentally bid $1,000.00, you can retract the bid."

I think you should pass it to their dispute centre.

lol. I figured that bit or for myself. I meant in terms of enforcing payment. Will eBay actually do anything? Or is it just a slap on the wrist for the non payer?

crossposts. Thanks. Will do that all now.

Have to contact the lady selling the replacement buggy and beg her forgiveness too.

What an utter pita.

They can't force them to pay. You would be better offering pram on buy it now basis to get it sold fast ( after filing for non-payment as someone already said)

Butterflyspring · 07/07/2014 10:05

no they can't force them - but they will issue a non paying strike, and they won't be able to neg you either.

So get the non payer case opened asap because you need to wait another 4 days to close it and you can't relist or do a second chance offer until after the case has closed.

Neverendingnappies · 07/07/2014 10:22

have done it all this morning.

arse bugger fuck.

Am now trying to fund the other buggy as i dont want to mess the lady around (and the deal was a cracking one!)
