How can I tell if my shoes are leather?

I know this seems obvious, but I have 2 pairs of shoes I want to sell on ebay but I'm not sure how to list them. One pair are Vagabond wedges and cost over £60 and I've always thought they were leather. Now I'm looking though, there isn't a label that says they are. Another pair is some black heels I bought from a boutique shop abroad which again cost £60 or so and they don't have a label that says they are leather.

I know some shoes have a sticky removable label that states they are leather, but I would have removed these. So, is there any way I can be sure?

Leather shoes or bags etc usually have it printed on the item somewhere but could be worn off a used item. I guess you cant really guarantee that the item is leather without that. Tasting it and smelling it can help. Seriously. You can taste if its leather. Its sort of salty tasting.

Do you think its just best that I don't mention what they're made of?

Well if your not sure maybe best to be upfront and let them decide for themselves. Or have a look on website or ebay for shoes the same and see if others list them as leather. Just a thought.
