Unpaid item - winner of bid won't pay

I thought that the winner of a bid was legally bound to pay, however, the winner of my bid has said the item will not fit although the dimensions were in the first line of my description so she must have messed up somehow, not me.
She has asked me to remove the item so she won't get her account suspended but my understanding is that I won't then get my fees refunded.
I sympathise with her error but if Ebay can't make her pay what's the point in having a bidding system if the winner doesn't have to pay???

Yes you are right. Do a non payer report.

If you're feeling generous you could just cancel the transaction and get your fees back. Make sure you block her as a bidder though.

If she is worried about getting her account suspended that would suggest she already has a strike for not paying (I think you need 2 strikes against you). I would do a non payer report.

If someone has bid in error/changed mind you can send a cancellation request and don't forget to tick the reason as buyer changed mind so you don't get a defect. Buyer can then accept your request or refuse or just ignore. If they accept/ ignore you get fees back if they refuse open a non payment case. Once sorted you could try the next highest bidder or it's a case of relisting. At least they have told you - most non payers just don't pay and don't make contact. A pain but thankfully not too many non payers. I do have one on the go at the moment though. There is nothing you can do other than above. Better before payment than returns after sending.
