Auctioned 12 items a fortnight ago. 11 were received and buyers happy. One buyer says they havent received their item and has opened a case in the resolution centre.

It was sent second class unrecorded, as stated in ad (although kept receipt). Where do i stand?

You offer the buyer a full refund of all they've paid to get the case closed. Ask them to get back to you if the item does turn up.

Separately you see whether your receipt will get you anything back from Royal Mail. If you have a receipt rather than a Certificate of Posting I doubt you'll get anything although it might be possible to claim for the postage cost.

you need to refund and claim for the loss with royal mail.

What they said. Refund ASAP, grovel an apology, send a cancellation request (they can't do worse than turn it down), leave decent f/back and contact RMail for a refund. They give pretty clear instrux what Ebay sellers need to do.
