I can't leave someone negative feedback even though they're an idiot

I bought some cd towers, emailed to go and collect - no contact at all. So I paid by PayPal even though I'd far rather have paid cash when I picked up to force them to acknowledge me.

The payment went 'pending' for 3 weeks, still no contact - and I eventually had to cancel payment as it was getting close to the time where they could claim the money and I couldn't open a claim for them not completing the transaction.

Really annoyed I can't leave feedback.

They weren't cheap either, I eventually got some for half the price these were.

I'm having the same with a ladder I bought yesterday - emailed twice offering to pick up, no contact

why aren't you opening up a case "item not received"?

LaurieFairyCake · 29/05/2014 13:14

You can't open a case if you haven't paid, which is why I paid by PayPal which he then didn't claim

but you can neg them - why are you unable to?

they would have had the wrong email address on the listing hence unclaimed. Did they open an unpaid case against you?

LaurieFairyCake · 29/05/2014 14:40

No, no contact at all ever.

The feedback option is not there until you have paid. As it was unclaimed I then cancelled the monies.

so they must have filed an unpaid case against you - and issued you with a strike?

LaurieFairyCake · 29/05/2014 18:46

Nope, they have done nothing. It's now showing in my won items as awaiting payment.

It's a loophole. If you're a seller and it doesn't go for what you want for it they just have to ignore you and not link their payments.

So if you email half a dozen times like I did asking when I could pick up, asking if they want cash on collection and they ignore you, you can do nothing about it.

I paid by PayPal eventually so that I could leave feedback but because it was payment 'pending' and unclaimed I still couldn't leave feedback. You can't open a case til you've paid.

I am quite sure he will eventually file an unpaid item against me - can only hope EBay contact me so I can say I offered payment many times, then paid by PayPal etc.

so it didn't meet its reserve? Have never heard of a loophole like that otherwise?

Have you tried phoning them? They may be unaware you paid to the wrong address.

LaurieFairyCake · 29/05/2014 20:08

There wasn't a reserve. I didn't phone them after I'd sent the six emails as there was no way they were unaware of the EBay emails.

It was pretty clear that they wouldn't respond after a week Grin
