Buyer requesting feedback first

I've never had this request before but someone's just bought an item from me, paid and left me a note requesting feedback and that they'll return the favour.

As a seller I normally wait for them to give me feedback before leaving it for the buyer. Why would a buyer ask for FB first? This ebayer has hundreds of feedback so it can't be because he or she wants to build a good rep. It's only a small item and I see no reason to suspect anything. What do you think?

I wouldn't leave any - it is voluntary after all. I wouldn't bother replying tbh. But you waiting for them to leave FB before you leave any is somewhat pointless - not like you can neg any more.

Just leave them a brief positive. You can't say anything that's not positive and it's a small hoop to jump thru. You're giving them an excuse to say something negative about your communications if you don't comply with their request. DSRs of 3 or below now count as defects, so not worth the risk.

You can do f/back followups, btw, if anyone does say something nasty. That kind of thing (additional comments) can be extremely telling.

Ok thanks for responses. There really isn't anything I can say at this point other than "thank you for buying" if I do leave fb.

Sounds fine to me.

I think its pretty reasonable for them to expect you to leave it first. As a buyer Id say 90% of the people I buy from leave fb when I pay. After all that's my part of the transaction complete.

when I sold stuff I left it when the money was paid & Id sent the item

Why would you need to wait til they leave you fb unless its to hedge your bets against negs.

If they've asked for feedback I would definitely give it as refusal to do so will clearly lead them to marking you down for communication.

Just say: buyer paid promptly, many thanks ++++
