bought dress described as silk by seller, but really nylon and polyester

I bought what I thought was a silk dress. It has arrived today and there is no silk content whatsoever in the dress. It was described in the heading, specifications and the extra blurb as 'silk' (3 times). It is a really horrible synthetic material, nylon and polyester.

What do I do now? I don't want to have to pay the cost of return postage even if the seller takes it back. I would not have bought it if it had not been falsely declared to be silk. Why should I be the one to pay for a mispresentation of the article?

You don't. You open a not as described case and get your postage back when EBay find in your favour

Is the very best case scenario the original cost and original P&P though? I will have to fork out for the cost returning the article to the seller.

Once you have won your case stick it in an envelope without postage and send it. They will get a card through their door saying something has arrived with insufficient postage and they can decide if they want to pay it or not.

You could try contacting the buyer first before opening a case. Use ebay messages and choose "other" for the topic. Explain why you are not happy as the dress is not real silk as expected. The seller may have made a mistake and not realised (silly but perhaps not intended to mislead you) ask for a refund plus return P&P as it was a seller error. You may find the seller is happy to help and do the return with no problem. Send it back the cheapest signed for way - maybe it can go LL . If the seller helps then you have only lost out on time and a bit of hassle. If they are unhelpful open a case. The worst case scenario is you miss out on postage back (re use their packaging if you can). Then you can leave feedback as you feel appropriate. Give the seller a chance to rectify their mistake first and don't send back with no stamp, you need proof that you returned the item properly.

you need to send it tracked with online proof of delivery - my hermes will cost £2.98. If you write in the case you don't want to be out of pocket ebay may give you a prepaid label to use with Collect + or RM or they may give a no fault refund without the need for a return.

Lavender, should I just go through the not as described on the open a case in the resolution centre? I just looked at it and it stated the seller doesn't accept returns and to contact them first. I really want all my money back and the return cost before I spend one more penny on an item that was misrepresented 3 times on the description.

like I said ebay may provide a return label for free - or if not you will have to pay to return. My Hermes is the cheapest at £2.98 and they collect too - no need to pay an extra £1 odd for a signature.

The seller cannot refuse returns btw. And you are free to neg and leave low stars too (the latter can be way more damaging).
