Item sent recorded delivery; track and trace say not yet delivered

item was sent three weeks ago and buyer has just messaged me saying that it hasn't turned up yet. Track and trace thing says item is "is being progressed through our network for delivery".

Is there any other way of checking to see if it has actually turned up.?

no - it may have arrived and postie neglected to get a signature (which is often what happens with signed for items). Nothing you can do but refund and claim for the lost item. And try My Hermes or Collect + next time - no need to pay extra for a signature and always online proof of delivery. Buyer can't lie then.
