I'm in a right pickle with a non paying bidder - help

The winning bidder hasn't paid despite my sending 2 invoices, and hasn't responded to any of my emails. The auction only ended a few days ago but I put in the listing that I required payment within 24 hours which didn't happen.

In my final email I gave him an extended deadline and said I would have to go to second chance offer if he didn't pay by X time. He didn't respond and X time came and went.

Without really knowing what I was doing I made a second chance offer, but then realised I needed to cancel the original winning bid so I did this through Ebay. However he has rejected this!

What do I do now? I just wanted to sell my thing and get rid and now I'm in a right mess. What if they both buy it and I've only got one!

just open the unpaid case - and then close in 4 days, add to blocked bidder list then, and only then, can you relist or do a second chance offer.

and if they both pay you will have to refund one of them and most probably get a neg and 2 lots of final fees to pay.

Can I stop the second chance offer until I've got rid of the original bidder?
It seems unfair that I'm going to be negged now when it's the buyer that didn't comply or make contact!

no you can't - which is why you need to file an unpaid case now, you can do that within 48 hours, there was no point waiting and sending invoices. Now you have annoyed that buyer and they have refused your cancellation request. You need to file unpaid against them properly now, they will get a strike and you get your fees back, plus they won't be able to neg.

Have you opened that case yet?

Yes I've opened the case but what if they pay now? The second chance woman has accepted and paid and I want to sell it to her, because I will have pissed off the first guy now and if I send it to him he will probably say it's broken or something. Plus he didn't comply with my terms but the second chance woman did.

Can I just refund the original winner if he pays? Or do I message him to tell him not to pay? He still hasn't contacted me despite rejecting my cancellation so I have no idea what his intentions are regarding paying.

You just have to hope they don't pay. You can't close it for 4 days now. If he does pay then refund him. You will be stuck with 2 lots of final value fees and neg feedback probably. How much was it - prob worth sending by courier if of any value.

I am not sure that you can out terms in your listing that go against eBay terms, ie buyers have a lot longer than 24 hours to pay. Yes you probably pissed off the buyer. Some people don't have access to computers all the time, I had one the other week who had to use a computer at a friends house temporarily and apologised for taking 3 days to pay, but he was well within eBay terms for paying.

However if I were you I'd send it to the 2nd chance person who seems keen. The worst that can happen is the other one gives you bad feedback but if so you can reply that he did not respond to emails asking when he was going to pay so you sold elsewhere.

Next time I think you need to be a little more patient and allow buyers longer to pay.

They have 6 days to pay in total - an unpaid case can be open within 48 hours.

Yeah you're right I should've been more patient, I just want rid of stuff quickly! To be honest I don't care if he negs me, I'm not planning on selling on ebay again, it's just not worth it any more, I've had loads of bad experiences.

I've emailed him and told him the item is no longer available and not to pay.

I didn't realise you couldn't put that you wanted paying within 24 hours - I thought everyone did it! It's the first time I've put it, I'm normally more relaxed.

I'm past caring about the feedback really, I just want to sell it to the second woman and be done with it.

How much was it? - you need to send with online proof of delivery.

Perhaps I am just feeling touchy about it at the moment... last weekend I won a cookery book on ebay. Listing ended Saturday tea time, I got a notification on my phone but prefer to use paypal on our laptop that's got the full protection software anti virus thingy on it.

Sunday tea time and evening I couldn't get near the laptop due to kids and dp hogging it, so 9am Monday I log into ebay to pay, and am greeted by a 'cancellation request' message. Messaged the seller to ask if he's put the cancellation request in because I had not paid immediately and that I definitely wanted the item and want to pay.

The twerp replied 'oh well I will go back to the cancer charity shop and see if they will let me have it back'

eh??? I just couldn't be bothered to reply to that one so I clicked yes to the cancellation request.

I am also done with selling on ebay, I used to get decent prices for stuff on there but now I think people are so used to it being full of 'new' sellers that no one looks for the 2nd hand stuff on there anymore. And since ebay started charging the final valuation fees on the total of selling price plus postage, if an item goes for 99p and it costs more than a couple of quid to sell, then frankly the fees are too much to make it worthwhile now.

Op have you tried Preloved.com, its a fiver a year for however many ads you want to place, you put a set price and people just reply if they want it. I have sold larger/more expensive stuff on there as its much more local and no final selling fees etc.
