So, have just noticed that my buyer has paid by Paypal despite being an item for collection.

What can I do to prove that they have collected item to avoid them saying that they have not received item?

Refund them and ask for cash on collection. Nothing else will protect you.

You can ask politely if they would accept a refund & pay by cash instead. If they refuse then I wouldn't push it. They always have the right to pay by PP. Only once did buyer insist on PP instead of cash & they didn't shaft me; quite pleasant transaction.

The only things you can do to protect yourself are:

  1. Refund and insist on cash.
  2. Send the item through the post via trackable means.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING else will cover you. Not signed bits of paper, photos of the buyer, even a signed affidavit by the pope will win you a paypal claim.
