It appears there are lots like mine for sale and getting the price I want but have had lots of dodgy emails via gumtree where it's currently advertised asking to pay via paypal and their shipping company will collect etc (obviously dodgy and have reported) but can I advertise it on eBay and ask for bank transfer or cash only and not paypal? Thanks in advance. Or maybe I should just go with autotrader!!

We've sold our last 2 cars on eBay. We only accept cash and the buyer has to collect.

We've found it great way to sell a car and got more money than we were expecting too.

We sold my old car and a couple of other vehicles on ebay and stated cash on collection only and sold as seen. We listed every little thing, any scrape, any problem etc plus details of MOT, tax, servicing etc etc... and had no problems so we would do it again. We've also bought 2 cars via ebay.

You could also state something along the lines of 'can be viewed before auction ends'

Like I say, we would do it again.. worth a go?

Oh great! Thanks for your replies! I'm happy for viewings etc and have sold a car on eBay before but this one is worth more money!! Will give it a bash, these emails have just made me a bit wary!! Especially of paypal! Thanks Smile

I bought my last two cars from eBay. Paid cash for both on collection.

You advertise it as a classified IIRC rather than an auction.

i had lots of dodgy bidders when i sold on ebay, put cash on collection and do not accept paypal.

not sure if i would do it again and would prob use autotrader

I have sold a couple of vehicles on ebay, at auction, cash only buyer collects.

It worked out fine both times and I got a price I was happy with.

I did get messages asking to end the auction early and for buy it now prices but each time I just replied 'thank you for your interest but I'm going to let the auction run its course. Good luck if you decide to bid.'

Like daisy said, we listed every scrape and took loads of photos.

you never ever take paypal for a car - always a scam if you do. Cash or bank transfer only.

Helpful replies all, thank you Smile
