Can DD set up her won eBay account - she is 16; if she can is she allowed her own Paypal account?

Can she say no to international posting?

If she is selling small low cost things does she need to do 'signed for' (probably second class) or can she just get proof of delivery?

Do you think she will sell teen/pre-teen jewellery at 50p an item?

need to be 18 to run own account, online proof of delivery is required which is signed for, many don't bother for low cost items. You can claim for lost items if you have certificate of postage, which I guess is what you mean as just proof of delivery. Selling an item for 50p is zero profit after paypal/ebay fees so possibly not at all worthwhile. So much jewellery on ebay for sale I very much doubt there would be a market anyway. Local craft markets would probably be better.

and yes to stop international buyers you need to make the settings in your account physically set to stop them bidding. Just stating no international posting will not stop them being able to bid.

I thought so too (about the low cost) but I'll letting her try

There area few things that should earn a little more but I thought putting 99p might put people off

there is no point selling for even 99p really - 10% ebay fees on item price and the p&p cost too then there is paypal fees of 3.4% + 20p per transaction.

free listing this weekend so get listing at over 99p is my advice.

KatyMac · 04/01/2014 15:19

She has started listing at 99p - we have all the packaging stuff so no additional posting cost but we've added in 20p an item so that might make her a bit

I guess she thinks if she sells 20 things at 50p it's a tenner (it might not be after paypal fees but the few larger things should balance it out a bit I guess)

She is raising spending money to start college next year & anything she makes delays her having to start work.....(she doesn't see this as work Hmm)

I guess she is deluded

no point ending items during the day either, evenings is best. Mon or Tues end time seems to get most buyers.

KatyMac · 04/01/2014 15:34

She's not doing too well is she

Can you input them & then 'hold' them until later to list?

OP posts:
SandyDilbert · 04/01/2014 15:36

yes, schedule for 3 weeks time which costs 6p then go and edit tonight or tomorrow to go live and won't be charged the 6p.

KatyMac · 04/01/2014 15:38

OK - I'll go & change what she has done.....

I'll change them for 3 weeks then tonight change them for 3 days - is that right?

& I'll put all of them as 99p

Shoudl I add more on to the postage?

OP posts:
KatyMac · 04/01/2014 15:42

Nope I can't unlist them - can I?

OP posts:
SandyDilbert · 04/01/2014 17:26

They are just her 'old' bits & pieces not things she has made

I imagine her great grandmas bits will go for more - but we will see

if it is jewellery of any value you will need to insure for the loss, which will be special delivery guaranteed. Standard signed for won't be sufficient.

KatyMac · 04/01/2014 20:47

No - it's just bits & pieces the expensive stuff (not very much) I'll take to the jewellers I think a brooch & a pair of ear-rings

The rest is nice John Lewis type costume stuff
