I always wait 10days before opening a case

SandyDilbert · 12/12/2013 22:08

crikey - you can open a case in 2 days and then close 4 days after that - 10 days is far too long I reckon. No point waiting, if they aren't going to pay they aren't going to.

ChazDingle · 12/12/2013 22:16

If she's still not paid by tonight then i'd open a case, still gives her a chance to pay before getting a strike. Usually when i've done this the buyer is apologetic and pays (i give more than 2 days though Sandy)

SandyDilbert · 12/12/2013 22:17

well they get 6 days to pay not 2, which I think is plenty.

The buyer finally paid after I opened a case. I did send her a polite email before about paying. I want to give negative feedback. It really annoys me. I would be embarrassed if I delayed someone by not paying on time and would email to explain if there was a problem.

what could I say on my FB.

Sellers cannot leave negative feedback for buyers.

If you leave a negative comment, under a positive rating, eBay will remove it.

SandyDilbert · 17/12/2013 18:35

just don't leave her any feedback then - don't be tempted to leave a neg statement, you will get a strike for that.

tiredandsadmum · 17/12/2013 18:42

I had a problem recently on ebay - my mistake totally so when I received the rather shirty reminder to pay, I paid and apologised immediately. So please do note that none of us are perfect. I always check out general feedback. In my case, the seller clearly took umbrage, bounced the payment and filed NPB. I got that closed out as I had paid but then the seller left a negative comment under + feedback. I also then had to get that removed. Ebay were lovely to deal with as they could see all the emails and mine were polite and apologetic.

SandyDilbert · 17/12/2013 18:46

I agree, buyers can overlook paying, or be busy, ill etc. This is why you should open an unpaid case after 48 hours, then if they don't pay you can close in 4 days, block them and relist, they won't be able to leave that seller any feedback then, plus you get your fees back and they get a strike. Delaying opening a case just drags it out and is pointless.

alemci · 17/12/2013 19:42

ok but I still don't get why you cannot state the situation. I won't leave any fb

because buyers need to be free to leave an honest neg or neut without the need for a retaliatory neg from a seller - so ebay removed the right for sellers to leave anything but positive for a buyer. But they also removed the right for non paying buyers to leave any feedback after a case has been closed.

Ebay considers if a buyer pays they have done their part - well initially, at least. Your buyer did pay, the fact you opened a case prob prompted that. how many days after winning did they pay?

alemci · 17/12/2013 19:55

just over a week, 9 days. this buyer had good fb. I think it would be courteous of the buyer to apologise for inconveniencing me or just to email to offer a reason as the post office much busier etc etc.

nevermindSmile

so open a case after 48 hours - that stops you having to wait. You could have opened & closed a case in 6 days.

alemci · 17/12/2013 20:29

it seemed rude and I didn't want to hassle her but I think you are right Sandy. I was busy at work last week.
