items not as described

I've bought a few things off ebay lately that have been inaccurately described. Two tops that were meant to be a size 12, one was a 10 and one was a 14, a top with the security tag still attached and a top that stank and was filthy. I have emailed all the sellers and just been told to return it. I don't see why I should have to pay to send the item back when it has not been described correctly. Had they been described accurately I never would have purchased them! The items were not expensive so not worth my while paying out to post them back. Now I've bought an iphone case as a present for someone, it wasn't that cheap for a phone case but it is nothing like the picture and looks cheap and tacky. Once again I've been told to return it which will mean I'm out of pocket, is there anything I can do? I've made an early resolution to NEVER buy off ebay again!!

open cases for them - write that the cost of return is too great, and hopefully when escalated ebay may refund without the need for the return

and please do leave appropriate feedback and low stars to warn other buyers.

I agree. Start a case. Item not as described is one of the reasons you can. But you have had a lot of bad luck! Did all these sellers have good feedback?

That's the reason I gave up on eBay. In particular a ladies top that practically had the old ladies shape in it it was do well worn. They will count on you not complaining so I would do and it might stop such crap being sold.

thanks for the advice. I've been on ebay for years with few problems until just recently

Ask if you can have the return postage refunded. This should be the case if an item does not match description. A good seller will refund you returns. Mistakes on sizes can happen especially around this busy time but no excuse for smelly dirty items and having tag on is odd, you would think they would spot this on packing.

If you get refunded returns - no major harm done, if not then feedback needs to reflect this.
