What's the norm with giving feedback? Buyers and sellers not leaving feedback.

I have sold 12 things in the past month and half the buyers have not left any feedback. The rest have left good feedback. I have had no complaints and post everything within 24 hours of payment being made. Also 3 sellers I have bought from left no feedback, I always pay immediately.

Is this par for the course? I always leave feedback for every purchase and sale.

I find this as well. I sometimes prompt the buyers but TBH they still don't react or I forget about it.

I try to leave fb for every transaction too.

I used to get quite firmly prompted to leave feedback for my purchases but I don't get any prompts now, and haven't for a long time and I never remember myself.

purely voluntary, is not an integral part of the transaction, I would say at least half of ebayers never bother. Never ever ask buyers to leave you any in case they get cross and leave FB you didn't want. It really doesn't matter if you don't get any tbh.

Have you left the buyers feedback? Some people don't do it til they have it which is annoying!
But don't send a message asking for feedback, it's not compulsory and I probably only have feedback on half the stuff I have sold.
I always leave feedback but every now and then it might not be immediately, it annoys me when people send a message basically saying "give me feedback!"

Thanks for your replies seems it's pretty normal then.

The reason it's is an issue for me us that I am relatively new to eBay and had one negative feedback (from psycho buyer eBay found me not at fault) anyway that one bad feedback dropped my percentage from 100% to 80% just like that. It's now at 95% as I have sold more all with positive feedback. But I don't buy much so will take me selling loads to get the score up and it's reliant on them leaving feedback. I did ask eBay to remove the negative feedback as I made a complaint against buyer who left neg FB and her threatening and abusive emails could be seen by eBay (clearly a raving nutter) but they never removed it.

Part of we wonders if it really matters as I've never had trouble selling things even when the score fell to 80%.

Thanks anyway Smile

well - I would leave feedback for anyone who you owe it to in the hope that they may then reciprocate. And if all else fails leave a reply to the neg stating you tried to resolve, you only want buyers to be happy - or something like that. Calm and friendly is the way. And a neg only sits on your a/c for 12 months so it isn't for ever.

You could also buy a few cheap items to get quick feedback - some stocking fillers maybe?

BlameItOnTheBogey · 30/11/2013 14:08

I rarely leave feedback. I don't really look at it when making a purchase and see my obligation as being to pay promptly and there it ends. There's enough to do with small kids and work and elderly parents without adding on optional things like this. If people do it, great. If not, up to them. It is not an integral part of the buying process.

BillyBanter · 30/11/2013 17:05

Can you not get ebay to remove the feedback if they found in your favour?

lljkk · 02/12/2013 11:52

I think norm is that only about 40% leave FB, what's displayed figures very little in buyer decisions & sellers don't get chance to choose.

mamij · 02/12/2013 12:58

Tbh, I only leave feedback as a buyer when the seller leaves feedback first. I don't see why the seller can't leave feedback if I've paid immediately.

On the other hand, I will leave feedback straight away if I am a seller in the hope the buyer will also leave feedback for me when they receive the item!
