Cancel purchase or let it be?

I won an item which seller claimed within an hour that it had a defect and had to be sent back to the suppliers. I asked for a picture so I can decide for myself as they can't just pull it off after the auction has finished. Another more proffesional seller had in the past sent me a picture of the defect for his product (now I understand why!) so I insisted that this seller do as well. They replied that they always send items back to suppliers when there is a defect. Then I asked again saying that it is my right they sent no reply back. The listing was saying that item might get pulled off earlier as it might get sold elsewhere. I think that that's what has happened thus no picture as there is no defect. The auction was 2-3 days ago. Ebay want me to pay for it but I haven't (I have for the rest items from this seller). Should I ask the seller to cancel the purchase as I am fed up of it or will ebay stop asking from me to pay? The seller hasn't asked for payment. I don't want to cancel the purchase myself as they are the ones who are refusing to sell so they should know better how to cancel. Should I ask them to cancel it?

They even refused combined postage and packaging because they admitted wanting to profit from it Shock

TIA

I would just delete it from your won items - you can of course leave a neg and low stars if you want. If they refuse to combine then you want each item in a separate package btw.

Overall I find that pretty crappy service, EBay expects good customer service; they have broken several Ebay policies in the process, too. I think I would report the seller for non-performance & barely glance at any more requests for payment.

Thank you all very much for your responses. So I don't have to ask the seller for cancelation. Initially I was boiling and wanted to leave 6 negatives with 1 star each 1 week apart. That would EASILY damage their ratings and maybe they would even get stopped by ebay. Now I don't have the energy anymore :( Are they so short sighted??
Thanks again :)

If seller files unpaid item dispute then you have something to worry about; no compulsion to pay otherwise.

I think best if you only act when calm.
