Cancellation of transaction

I am a very inexperienced e-bay buyer but the day before yesterday I spotted a hoodie my little boy would love. There were actually two similar ones so I bid on the first one and won!!! The second one looked in better condition and I considered going for it as well but decided against. I payed via paypal immediately, told ds and was happy.

Today I received a message from the seller saying that she was cancelling the transaction "due to the new charges of fees on postage charges". She has issued a refund. Surely when you bid for an item there is a contract between the seller and buyer and, if what she is saying is true, she should honour existing purchases. The postage was actually quite expensive compared to other sellers. I am really annoyed.

She also says she is cancelling her e-bay account so I can't even leave negative feedback.

Can she do this!

well she can send a cancellation request but you are welcome to refuse it stopping her getting her fees back

And of course you can leave neg feedback and low stars, plus report her as non performing seller

If she requests to close her account it doesn't happen immediately, may be 60 days I think?

I'm just so annoyed as there were two very similar items I could have bid for but didn't as I had "bought" that one. I'm not sure what I will do yet.

if you refuse the cancellation they don't get their final fees refunded. You can still leave feedback whether you refuse or accept. If you ignore the cancellation it closes after a week I think, and the seller would then get the fees refunded.

I have accepted the cancellation and noted in the box for further details that I am disappointed. I will be most annoyed if it is relisted!
