I won a coat last month and paid immediately & item was posted on the 25th 2nd class - not recorded or tracked .
I have still not received the coat so I contacted the seller at the beginning of the week .
The seller got back to me saying she knows a few people that work at the Royal Mail & she would get I touch with them to see if they can trace the parcel , Finally got back to me today and says she has just heard back from a friend who has managed to speak to my postman who is certain he has delivered the parcel Hmm Confused

I have had several parcels this week so im not sure how he can be certain it was that specific one .

Seller has told me i have to write to my local postal office and describe the parcel to them so they can keep the description for their records Confused

Is it just me or does this all sound a bit to far fetched ??

How can you describe the parcel if you've never seen it? Why should you be the one writing to the post office anyway?

Yes you are being taken for a ride.

Request a refund.

IslaValargeone · 12/10/2013 11:55

Contact the seller and ask for a refund, open a case if necessary.
The responsibility to source the parcel isn't yours.
She sounds full of s**t.

peppapigmustdie · 12/10/2013 11:57

It is a pile of bollocks. She has to put in a claim, contact ebay and open a dispute.

justaquickone · 12/10/2013 12:00

Ok thanks

It's the seller wot had the contract with RM, not you. If she didn't send it tracked, she knows she will have to refund you and get onto RM herself.
She is unlikely to get an compensation.

I also doubt the veracity of her story, it's bollocks frankly but you don't need to tell her that - keep being polite, and say you're so sorry and wish her luck in dealing with royal mail, but you would like your money back please.
If she says no then open a paypal dispute (not an ebay one, make sure it's paypal - much easier and more logical though either will probably do the job) and don't communicate any further than you have to with her.

Do NOT close the case until you have got the money in your account.
She sounds like the sort to try anything - keep being nice but be firm and open a dispute now in fact as she isn't going to refund without a lot of pressure.

You only have 45 days from the date of payment to open the dispute so get onto it asap.

PatoBanton · 12/10/2013 12:04

I mean if she says, close the case and I will refund you, don't do it - you cannot open a new case once it's closed.

If you have any issues then ring up paypal, they are generally very helpful on the phone and disputes can be confusing.

justaquickone · 12/10/2013 12:37

Thanks Pato I will do it right away

haha - does she really expect you to believe the postie confirms delivery and you will leave it at that - what a joke. Friends who work at RM - how daft of the seller to think you will believe that. If you open an ebay dispute you need to wait 8 daysto escalate, if with paypal you can escalate straight away.

justaquickone · 12/10/2013 15:07

She has messaged back saying that she will not be able to open a dispute with Royal Mail unless I confirm I have not received the parcel Hmm

I feel she is rather taking the piss now as I have never heard anything like this before and certainly don't believe it

OP posts:
Cataline · 12/10/2013 15:09

Confirm you have not received the parcel. Then open a dispute if she continues to take the piss!

justaquickone · 12/10/2013 15:14

I have confirmed with her , but she wants me to write to my local sorting office with a description of the parcel

OP posts:
Goldmandra · 12/10/2013 15:18

Tell her she's the one who sent the parcel so she needs to write to the sorting office describing it.

Give her a time limit to issue a refund or you'll open a dispute.

lljkk · 12/10/2013 15:25

Either she's very ignorant or pissing you about, OP. Either way, open a case for item not received. It's her job to chase parcel, not yours. Follow instrux here.

justaquickone · 12/10/2013 16:10

Have opened a case Thanks

nickstmoritz · 12/10/2013 18:46

Christ, this one beggars belief! Poor you OP having to deal with this. Absolute and utter bollocks. You bought an item. It has not arrived. End of. It is now up to seller to sort it for you. She should have sent it recorded. Has she got weird feedback? Really, all that stuff about knowing posties and telling you to describe the parcel...err...NO.

Please keep us, ahem, "posted" about what happens.

justaquickone · 12/10/2013 20:13

nick she is still insistent no matter how much I tell her I just don't believe her so just gonna leave it up to eBay

OP posts:
PatoBanton · 12/10/2013 20:30

She might have actually been told this crock of shit by someone, and honestly believes it, so don't go off the deep end - she will get the neg feedback if anyone does, and you will get your money back through the dispute, as she has no tracking, so really just as you say, let ebay decide.

SandyDilbert · 12/10/2013 20:46

she can say whatever she likes - doesn't make her right does it. How obstructive and silly of her.

80sbabe · 12/10/2013 23:28

Just wanted to say - this is the best one I've heard in a long while and I thought I'd had some crackers Grin
As above just continue with the case and you'll get your money back. The seller is the one who has to contact Royal Mail and deal with it - not you.
If she puts in a case with Royal Mail for a loss they may contact you to confirm non-receipt- but they don't always so don't worry if you hear nothing further.
Glad to see you've opened a case, do see it through and don't close before Ebay decide whatever the seller may say to you.

justaquickone · 13/10/2013 13:45

Will do 80 Thanks
