Spam leaflets in with received item

Hi there

Just had a new one. We buy lots of stuff via ebay, and have sold lots in the past but not so much any more, so I'm a bit behind the times (and not just ebay wise, my wife tells me).

Anyway, my wife bought a couple of packets of glitter for a christmas craft thing she's doing with our DD, and in the envelope that arrived were three direct mail spam leaflets. One was for a 'graze box' healthy snack service, one for british gas boiler insurance and the third was an ebay one for getting selling quickly via smartphone.

Is this a popular thing these days? I imagine it's a tidy way of making a few extra quid if you're a high turnover selling pro. I can't say I was particularly bothered, but I can imagine many people may not like it.

I've tried a few google searches but I can't turn anything up.

Cheers, sorry for the essay.

It does happen sometimes - I just chuck them in the bin, but it is a bit of a cheek. If you are not happy message the seller and tell them so.

Thanks Lily. I'm not remotely fussed, I'm more interested in whether it's a money-spinner for sellers, or whether it's a little short-sighted of sellers as it will annoy a good proportion of (other) people. I dare say it may contravene some ebay rule, but I'm not going to go reporting anyone.

I suppose there's not a lot of repeat trade on ebay by its very nature, so there's not too much to lose.

It's a company called packvertise, the seller gets paid 1p or 2p per leaflet. It's a good way for sellers to keep their packaging costs lower for their buyers (or to make a few extra pounds depending on the seller).

I get them all the time in Amazon parcels
