Just a quick one - wwyd?

Won three items from the same seller this morning, total came to about £11 and the postage for each item is £3. Asked seller if they could combine the postage for me as I have done in the past for buyers and other sellers have done for me. Seller said no because she expected to get more for the items than they sold for and to let her know if I now don't want them.

I still want the items but I just don't think a seller should be profiting that much from postage. Surely the fact she wanted more for them is not my problem and she should have put a higher start price on them in the first place!

Yeah a bit unreasonable of them imo. If you still want the items maybe just leave a note in feedback saying postage was a bit steep. Others wise tell them where to go!

Tell her you expect each item to be packaged individually if she won't combine, that way she won't be making money off you!

I should have asked before I bid on them if they would combine the postage but I spotted them just before they ended at 7.30 this morning! That's a good idea, thank you MrsB any idea what I can do if the items arrive as one package?

yes - if she refuses to combine then she has to send in 3 separate parcels - make sure you pay for each one individually too so she gets stung with more paypal fees to pay.

I can't pay for them separately! It only gives me the option to pay for the whole lot plus £9 postage - when did they change it so you couldn't do that?

I had this recently - seller trying to make money out of postage, after auction had finished. I was the winning bidder so I refused the new terms and cancelled the auctions. If the seller had been up front, I could have considered it and bid accordingly.

She said in advance what the postage was, so I don't think u can complain.

You asked for combined, she said no. Your only complaint can be if they come as one package.

You should be able to pay for each item separately.

I bought 3 items off the same seller and paid for the first one only, because I realised it was the same seller and was waiting for an email response to my request for combined postage.

That was granted to me, but the point is that I was able to settle up each transaction individually.

If you log into eBay and click on each item under 'bid items won' or 'buying' or whatever the heading is (can't recall, but it will be obvious), there is an option to 'pay' which takes you to PayPal. Depending on whether you're using an app or computer, you should get a prompt to 'pay all' or 'just this one seller'.

If they come in one parcel and you've paid for three items I would leave three separate negative feedbacks. If she wanted more for the items she should've put reserves on them.

Sellers are not obliged to combine postage. That said, Ebay expects them to offer good customer service & that is not good CS.
Can't make her reduce the price but you are entitled to leave whatever feedback you want.

Sorry but unless she stated she combined postage you have to wear the cost. I now ask before every bid if it's not stated.

Of course she is in the wrong. She can't charge £11 for something which will cost a fiver to post at most.

If she won't budge, insist on her sending in separate packets. If not, report to EBay and leave appropriate feedback.

atrcts I can't pay separately because she has sent me a combined invoice, I've tried every way to do it but I have had to ask her to send seperate invoices so I can pay for each item separately and request they are posted separately.

Flanders if you read my second post I did actually say that I should have asked but there wasn't time. That said, she should not be profiting on postage as that is against ebay rules.
If she sends all the items together I will be leaving negative feedback and reporting her.

You can ignore the combined invoice and still do it individually. eBay automatically sends an individual invoice before a seller can try and send a combined one.

I would suggest you contact eBay to ask their advice (under 'contact us' option) before paying anything.

That way you can be 100% sure of where you stand and what our options are.

I really can't atrcts I've tried it loads of different ways and the live chat assistant said I now have to ask for separate invoices.

What happens when you go into the history and look under items Won?

If you copy and paste your conversation with eBay it may scare then into doing it!

It's all combined, no tick boxes next to the individual items like there used to be, no option through PayPal to pay individually. If I click 'pay now' on the emails that ebay sent before the combined invoice came through then it still won't let me pay separately.

Problem is, I don't want to get funny with her because I don't want to be accused of feedback extortion or whatever it is they call it, I just want the seller to play by the rules and not massively profit on the postage because they did not have a higher start price on items and ended them at a really quiet time!

Seems like you are stuck between the rock and a hard place.

I still would pleasantly say you've checked with eBay and they said ... so you hope that makes sense?

Can't see how that could leave you open to be accused of anything untoward, especially as eBay and PayPal always suggest getting in touch with the seller and trying everything possible to iron it out between you first.

If all else fails I really would consider reporting anything they bothers you about a seller. Worst case eBay ignore it, but you have nothing to lose.

And as they said upstream, I'd always check what sort of combined postage people offer (or not!) before bidding.

Hope it gets resolved to your satisfaction.

Well they can consider their arse reported after the exchange I have just had. Thanks atrcts I normally do but like I said, there wasn't time this time, plus I've never come across a seller who refused to combine postage. I have always combined as well.
Should be interesting when the items actually arrive...

Well I would be livid if someone did this. Totally unreasonable. Postage is not part of the bid. I always combine. Leave them the lowest P&P stars and I would be tempted to go neutral or neg. I have left my first ever neg recently after 10 yrs of ebay. Reading about what happens on here has hardened me up to people who just seem to ruin it for everyone.
