no photo, no listing new rule

On free listing days I sometimes list briefly and add photos and more description the next day if I haven't got a lot of time but looks like this won't be possible now as there appears to be new photo rules from Sept.

I have been told in the past that if you add extra photos to a listing already live (with photo) then these extra photos won't enlarge to the larger size, only the photos you uploaded originally (hope that makes sense) that is why I thought it better to have none til when you can put them all on together.

I guess now I will have to be more organised before the free listing day and schedule them.

This link talks about private sellers with basic shop option which I am not familiar with. Does anyone do the private seller basic shop option and if so could they explain any benefits/downsides please. Would it be good if you are not a business but try and ebay regularly.

oops sorry - I think I posted a link to my own emails instead of to the one from ebay about photos. The one that says correct should go to the new rules.

I think now they have changed listing fees to 100 free 99p listings per month for private sellers and 15p per item above 99p with upto 12 free photos there will be no more free listings weekends

it is now going to be much cheaper to list as multiple photos at 12p each can really add up

remember from 4th september ebay fees apply to postage charges as well as final value now so those trying to avoid fees by charging £4 postage on a t shirt can would go as a large letter so there is no longer any advantage in charging £2 plus £3 postage rather than £5 with free postage

Yes maybe they won't bother with free listing weekends then if it is 15p for any starting price.

In a way that isn't too bad because it can be a pain trying to wait and guess when they will be for the free ones.

BIN is still 40p I think isn't it? but 20p for "basic shop" private sellers. I am just not exactly sure what that entails. I am assuming a monthly fee for the "shop".

My concern is that the new fvf with included postage means if you post an item to outside Europe then the deduction from ebay will be loads.

Are you all carrying on as before or doing things differently?

I have had a look and I think I am muddling up the shop and private sellers thing. You would definitely have to be listing a lot to pay the shop subs so it wouldn't make sense to do it otherwise.

if you post to europe and beyond the FVF still include postage so need price to adjust accordingly

I think on the discussion boards that I read some official assurance that FLW will continue for a while, at least. Reaping 10% on p+p is so controversial they'll not want to make too many other changes just yet (I hope....?!)

the photo thing is a pain. I often add photos the next day plus I use mobile device. I did try to edit listing and it didnt work

Yes I think it is 10% of the whole thing - item plus postage. The more you add on for the buyer the higher the 10% becomes!

Could anyone tell me if you then also pay 5% to paypal of the whole amount plus postage? I am trying to work out how much altogether you pay out on each ebay sale. I am thinking it is 15% altogether but I am not totally sure of the paypal charges.

Be good if there were still free listing weekends because it would still be a saving.

PAYPAL IS 3.4% plus 20p in uk and 3,9% plus 20p if not originally paid in sterling you have always paid paypal fees on the whole amount but you used to only pay ebay fees on the sale price

Thanks sarahtigh. So that must be 3.9% for any items bought by overseas buyers. I actually hadn't known about the 20p so will try and recalculate.

have checked paypal it is 3.4% for overseas as well but instead of 20p the add on fee is in local currency like 0.3 euros etc

you only pay 2.9% if you sell more than £1500 a month !!!!!

the 20p transaction fee is never refunded though even if full amount refunded the 3.4% paypal fee and ebay FVF are though
