As soon as item ended the buyer paid thru paypal. Thats not good is it as they could collect the item then say not received couldn't they?
What should I do? Don't want to offend buyer by pointing this out to them.

You refund through paypal and ask them to pay cash on collection. A signed receipt won't protect you from them raising a not received dispute.

Why is it the buyer's fault? I've never sold but I've bought things for collection and paid by PayPal when prompted.

I've since read on here that the seller has no protection in this situation, even if you make the buyer sign a receipt.

Assuming you made it clear in your listing that it was "payment by cash only" then you shouldn't offend the buyer - just refund the payment and explain very nicely why you have done so.

Or you take a chance that they are honest (95% of people are, after all), and accept the Paypal payment. But then you must accept the fact that if they say they never received the item you won't have a leg to stand on, and Paypal will take the money back. Unless you can prove, by means of a courier/recorded delivery proof of despatch they will always believe the buyer, even if they have signed a receipt.

Thanks for the replies.
Have refunded the payment and asked very nicely for cash on collection which they agreed to. Phew!
