New Ebay final value fees on P&P charges - have you complained to Ebay?

I was in a slightly feisty mood the other day, so decided to complain to ebay about their new final value fees on P&P charges. I opened a live chat. Very polite exchange which I ended by asking the chat guy to forward my comments onto the appropriate department. He had asked me if I would like to have some selling tips to help with the change which I politely declined. Apparently the change is being discussed within the Community Forum. I just wondered if anyone else had provided feedback to ebay, so they were aware of what people felt.

I've signed the petition but don't expect Ebay to change minds.
There's Ebid, Amazon, Etsy, Bonanza, loads of alternatives. Go buy on them instead? It's lack of buyers that will make Ebay sit up & take notice.

I didn't even know there was a petition - happy to sign that too. Would you mind posting the link.

Thank you for the alternatives. I buy and sell ceramics (mostly). So will have a look :)

I think I've just realised what this means...
Seller pays for the privilege of posting item to buyer Shock and then gets stung with PayPal fees too? Is this right?

veryconfusedatthemoment · 27/08/2013 12:32

If an item sells for £1 and costs £10 to post. Now you pay final value fees on the £1 and then you pay paypal fees. After the change you will pay final value fees on £11 and then pay paypal fees. In my silly example the seller would be totally out of pocket rather keeping a few pennies. It is a clear change to push sale of low value items off ebay. This will mostly affect small private sellers.

I haven't seen the petition - can anyone post a link?

Has this already began? I am a small private seller with a few low value items listed. This will affect me. It's a shame eBay has really sold itself out.

I think it is start of September. I sell a few bits of ceramics that I have researched but no longer want and other odd items I find. I am thrilled if they go to a good home even if it is on the other side of the country. So I think that will stop now. Shame :(

I still haven't seen this petition?

I switched my selling to my local facebook groups. Cash in hand, no postage, and so much less stressful than ebay. Unless it's worth £50 or more there's no much point using ebay.

I thought it was to stop people profiting from postage which is unfair as it's hurting those who are honest with p&p. Maybe on every package it should be compulsory for the actual postage cost to be displayed and if the p&p paid by the buyer is more than e.g £1 more than the actual cost there should be a way of formally redressing this for a refund. Even maximum p&p guidelines would help eg for clothes bundles, jewellery etc. As usual it won't hurt the big players only us mere mortals. Shame on you Ebay.
