Can I ask for a refund?

I bought DH a used tshirt on Ebay. It only cost 99p plus £3.20 postage.

However, I had to chase up the seller as the item hasn't arrived after a week. She said she'll been ill and it would be posted. That's fine. 2 days later the item has arrived

It smells of cigarettes, has 2/3 faint orangey/yellow marks on it and is bobbly. The collar is discoloured too.

I know it isn't worth getting a refund but do I leave negative feedback or just leave it.

Get in touch with the seller first,

They want to protect their feedback and ratings, explain that its not as described and your not happy with it and see what they say.

I've sold some things before and hadn't realised there was a small mark on one of them. I refunded in full and told them to keep the item as not worth sending back.

After that leave whatever feedback you feel is appropriate Smile

yuck - sounds foul. Remind them that items are meant to be not only as described but freshly laundered - this clearly was neither. But yep contact seller first before deciding how to proceed.

I've emailed and said its smelly and stained and I want a refund.

I do understand the shirt is used but there is used in good condition and wearable and this!

She replied and was very nice about although she hasn't replied to my question about sending the item back.

How long do I wait for a refund/ response before taking it further?

I would reply and just ask for a refund - don't mention return yet

what did seller say?

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 03/08/2013 00:54

She said she would refund and don't worry about returning.

No refund yet.

so you need to ask again for your refund I guess?

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 03/08/2013 11:57

Yep! It is just annoying for the sake of a few pounds!

I'm also having a nightmare with a buyer who has bought something that is collection only and asked for a courier price which I have provided.

That was 24 hours ago and no response!

have you sent them an invoice? If so & if they don't pay in 2 days open unpaid item case. That is what I would do anyway.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 03/08/2013 12:15

They've paid but no response to the price for a courier to deliver the item.

They have really good feedback so I don't think it is anything suspicious but I would rather just get the item relisted so I can get rid of it.

well you need to refund them, and either tell them to collect with cash, or send an invoice including the courier amount for them to pay.

Never take paypal if they are collecting.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 03/08/2013 12:45

Ah ok.

I guess I should refund and then invoice for the amount plus courier and then if they don't pay I can relist.

OP posts:
LilyBossom · 03/08/2013 13:16

yes - but if they don't pay you will need to cancel the transaction first with the buyer, then relist - or you risk 2 buyers only 1 item.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 03/08/2013 17:20

Thanks Lily for your help.

I emailed them again and the buyer got in touch to say they will collect the item now. I told her I will cancel the Paypal payment (which I have done)as I've been advised to only accept cash and asked for cash on collection.

The worse that can happen is negative feedback but as I never sell anything I am not too worried!
