What do you think of this seller?

I bought a top on eBay - I was the only bidder so sold for 99p, that was on Thursday night and I paid first thing Friday morning.

Seller has emailed me this evening saying sorry I can't sell it for that price I'd rather give it to charity who could make more.

They have sent a refund.

Would you leave negative feedback?

I've sold a job lot of good quality baby stuff for 99p.....but hey, that's the way the cookie crumbles!

I'm miffed

You bought if fair and squre. In an auction. Where the seller had control of the starting bid. Yes, indeed, I would give negative feedback.

You have to give negative feedback. They could have put a reserve on or just did Buy It NOw.

Thanks lynette, I agree! I want to leave negative feedback too.

I've sold lots of stuff for 99p and just thought, lucky them!
I'd never cancel a sale!

I'm going to reply and explain that next time they should up the starting price or put a reserve as it's not fair on the buyer...

yes leave a neg and report as non performing seller too. Lowest reserve is £50 so doubtful they would use that, but should have started at higher price.

Have you checked their other feedback? Are they new to ebay? They seem to have failed to understand the point of auctions. If they expected more, there are plenty more options available - buy it now, set a reserve or higher starting price. I'd leave neg feedback for sure!

The seller should of put a starting bid of the lowest bid she was willing to accept. Not your fault no one else bid. I would maybe contact the seller and explain this and if you have no luck leave negative feedback.

I sold a lovely maternity top for £1.30 last week, I was gutted it was £18 & still had tags on. I do wish I had given to a friend - but like you say, thats the way it goes!

If they're new, I would respond very politely but firmly and give the heads up on How Ebay Works. If that fails to change their minds, then report and of course leave a scathing negative.

Charity shop, my arse. They're going to relist it.

Tell you funny story about Ebay newbies... I once bid on a bed on Ebay. The sellers msg'd to tell me to come collect it early. Odd. But I came, paid cash, went home & cancelled my bid (they didn't end auction early).

They didn't end auction at all, someone else bid. I always wondered what the heck happened when they got in touch to collect.

That's not in the spirit of ebay to do what they have done.
If they wanted more for it they should have put a reserve price,although their listing fee would have been higher.
I sold a lovely maternity skirt worth £40 new for 99p at the same time as selling a topshop maternity dress that cost £30 for £23.
That's just ebay.
Sounds like they don't get it.
Contact them and if you get nowhere,leave negative feedback.

No, that's not how ebay works! Why did she list it for 99p if she wasn't willing to sell it for that, the nob! Definitely neg her!

I would contact again before leaving a neg to give the new seller a chance just so they know the score but I agree it is not on to do that. I have had the same thing happen to me too. That seller needs to learn you win some you lose some..that's ebay. You could explain to them about starting at a higher price next time and say you would be contacting ebay customer support about the transaction. That might just spur them on to send you the top for 99p.

Never list and item for less than you are willing to accept. For me that means 1/3rd the original price if it still has tags.
