Would you leave a negative?

Here's what happened....

Bought a pair of cropped trousers I'm eBay, they were listed as Long size. I received them but they were regular not Long.

I contacted the seller who said she only ever buys long, sorry for the confusion. I replied and told here these were def regular and I could send her a photo of th tag if needed, she replied again with simply 'sorry for the confusion'.

AIBU to leave a negative? They were wrongly listed and she obviously isn't/can't do anything about it?

I think you need to be more direct and say sorry, you would never have bought them had they been regular, and please can you return and get a refund.

She is unlikely to pay for you to return though and I don't think she has to refund trousers so I think it all depends on how much they cost you.

If seller refuses that then yes neg and low stars. If you open a case ebay will force her to co-operate, she can't just say no and walk away like she has done. What is rest of her feedback like?

Oh just realised the typo in my post - I meant that I don't think she has to refund the postage it cost her to send you the trousers.

yes she does, the buyer is entitled to all the money back they paid inluding p&p, but will probably have to pay to return them.

When something similar happened to me - I bought a blouse listed as 'cotton' and when it came it was polyester-

I emailed the seller and told them that if it had been listed correctly then I would not have bid, and so would like a refund of my item plus postage both ways if she wanted it returned to her.

She offered me a £1 'rebate' and said its a nice blouse I got a bargain! I repeated what I'd said in the last email about item not being as described, she ignored that email so I left her a neg saying item listed as cotton but is polyester and seller refused a return. Then I gave no stars for item as described, and communications.

You need to be more direct. Tell her the trousers are not as described and that you want ALL your costs refunded even the return postage as you should not be out of pocket for something you would not have bid on had she listed it correctly.

giving no stars doesn't count though, if you want the low rating to count you need to leave 1 or 2 stars, leaving the stars blank has no impact whatsoever.

I must have left 1 star then. Whatever rating it is that brings up the box asking if there was problem and did you try to resolve it with the seller.

No, if you give really low stars on a positive - then you get asked if there was a problem and did you try to resolve it. May not be exactly IN A BOX, but you do get asked. I've only ever given one neg in my 800 transactions and that was before the stars system was set up.

Yes I give low stars sometimes for a positive, because sometimes things are not as described but are sent very quickly, or thing is lovely but took weeks to arrive etc etc. (like the watch I won 3 weeks ago and the seller says she only got round to posting it this Monday....)
