Payment 'unclaimed'?

Despite being a seasoned ebayer, I have never come across this before and wondered if any of you had?

Just made a 'buy it now' purchase on ebay, paid via Paypal and got a message saying my payment is 'being processed'. On my purchase history page, where there's normally a £ sign showing payment has been made, there's an egg timer symbol. If I hover my cursor over it, it says my payment 'is being processed'.

My Paypal page shows the payment status as 'unclaimed'. Clicking on that, brings up the following message:

Quote:

Payments Sent: A payment may be unclaimed for several reasons:
The recipient has not signed up to PayPal and has not yet received your payment
The recipient has a PayPal Personal account (which cannot receive more than 5 debit or credit card-funded payments a year)
The recipient hasn't accepted the payment
The recipient has chosen to individually accept or decline payments from customers who don't have a confirmed postal address.

The money has been deducted from your PayPal account. You can cancel this payment by clicking "Unclaimed" and then "Cancel Payment". After 30 days unclaimed transactions are automatically cancelled.

So they've taken my money, but the seller hasn't claimed the payment... Where do I go from here? The seller has 66 'feedbacks', but only one as a seller - all the rest as a buyer.

Sorry for long post!

This happened to me once as the seller - the form autofilled with the email address I use for eBay which is different from the one I use for PayPal and I didn't notice. So when the buyer paid, it sent the money to PayPal with an email address that didn't have an associated account. I had to create the account in the email address to pick up the money.

Contact the seller and say you've paid and just wanted to check it had gone through - they might not have realised and might be getting annoyed that you've not paid as there is no notification. It should be easy to sort out.

if you log into paypal it will show you the wrong email address the payment has gone to, the seller can then add that address to their paypal account to accept the payment.

Thanks. I've written to the seller asking her to check that her email addresses are the same for ebay and Paypal and hopefully she'll get back to me. Thanks for responding.
