Buyer saying item broken after 45 days

I sold an electric breast pump 46 days ago. Buyer contacted me saying she used it 10 times and it is now broken, she thinks it is the motor. She has said she can return it for a full refund or would prefer to keep it, buy a new motor (£40 she tells me) and wants a partial refund.

Where do I stand? What would the best thing to do be? Never had a situation like this before.

That's the risk one takes buying used goods. No one would require you to refund the buyer. If you are feeling bad about it, maybe you could split the cost of the new motor with her, but frankly, I think it's on the buyer to deal.

I would say its her problem! Who knows what she's done with it. If it didn't work when she received it that's one thing but now.. Not up to you to sort.

That's what I thought but I feel bad about it. It worked fine when I sent it and obviously for a bit when she received it. What would eBay say about it if she opens a case, any ideas?

she can't open a case as she is too late, she only has 45 days. You do not have to refund her anything as she is out of time. I bet she has finished needing it so is wanting her money back. I would tell her sorry, too late as it is over 45 days you can't help - sorry.

I suggest replying so sorry but after so much use blah blah blah so keep her engaged for a few more days then if she is still not happy and goes to open case it will definitely be out of time but I would not tell her that right now as she may try and open case immediately just in case; as it is not 45 days since sold but 45 days since she paid so double and triple check that

Some people want jam on it. We've had several things break down or stop working after we have bought them.
It's the chance you take when you buy used stuff.
