Refusal to send amended invoice via eBay

I have bid on four Buy It Now items from the same seller. In each listing seller stated that there was a special offer 4 for £10 and not to pay but wait for an amended invoice.

I have now received an invoice but it's direct from PayPal not eBay. I've asked the seller to send invoice via eBay (it's my understanding that there is no buyer protection if you complete purchase outside eBay) but the only other option he is offering is to pay full price on all four items and he will refund the difference.

He says eBay will get their fees either way?!? So what's the problem completing the payment within eBay?

Will PayPal alone offer me any recourse if the items don't turn up?

have you actually hit buy it now and bought them, if so yes just pay the invoice, if you haven't bought them then it is an off ebay sale which is not permitted. You do still have buyer protection if you pay by paypal.

He's sent me an eBay invoice for the total (over £25) and a PayPal invoice for £10.

If I pay the PayPal invoice is that still protected? He's got really arsey with me and frankly I don't trust him to refund the £15 if I pay the eBay invoice.

yes pay the paypal invoice not the ebay one - sounds like a very rude seller?

Still protected when you pay via Paypal even though it's not via Ebay, as long asyou mark the item commerce not gift. I've raised a dispute myself this evening over a Myhermes payment. A faff, though. I wonder what his game is...

Well, I've paid him the PP and had a polite acknowledgement back so fingers crossed. I've bought lots on eBay and never been invoiced outside it before so just a bit odd really.
