Payment Pending

I have googled before asking on here - honest guv - but I trust the opinion of an MN eBayer way more and you've so far given nothing but good advice.

1. I keep getting PayPal notifications that say someone has paid me, then when I check pp there's no trace and my eBay app tells me payment is pending. I understand there are a couple of reasons for this - in your experience how long before payment clears?

2. Dopey mare that I am, I accidentally posted an item to someone whose payment is pending. I'm figuring that most people who attempt to pay do so in good faith and payment should clear eventually, right??!

I also learnt the value of re-listing last night. I had an item that didnt sell, so I slashed the opening bid by half, re-listed and it went for loads more than I paid for it! It seems there is no rhyme or reason - or that there will always be someone out there who'll buy what you're selling.

I bought something last week, paid straight away, but my payment is still showing as pending. When I went into paypal I got " a has item been received message" with Yes No boxes to click on. As I got the item in the post this morning I am going to go in and click yes. As it has never happened to me before I am assuming that they were a new seller (low feedback), but I will be interested to hear the official answer.
