Have rung customer service three times, each time they say they've fixed my problem, but they haven't

I'm not really sure if anyone will be able to help this but at least I can vent my frustration. A few weeks ago my account was hacked and something was bid for and won. Since then I have spoken to customer service several times and every time they say that they can fix everything easily and get rid of this item that ebay says I need to pay for, but every time it's still there in my 'need to pay for' list.

A few days ago I was sent a reminder to pay for it which included the warning "What happens if I don't pay my fees?
Your buying and selling privileges will be limited and/or restricted, as well as your ability to communicate with other members through eBay messages. Your account may be sent to a collection agency for the balance owed."

I know the only thing I can do is keep ringing them and keep trying to get them to sort this out, but I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced a similar problem, or experienced customer service repeatedly saying they have sorted something out when they haven't.

Can you just contact the seller and cancel the transaction?

Theas18 · 24/06/2013 07:05

Hang on, you are getting 2 things mixed up.

The hacked item was "bought". But not paid for.

THe email from ebay was " what it I don't pay my fees" ie money due to ebay, not a seller.

THe 2 aren't linked. Not paying the seller will, at worst result in an unpaid item strike if he reports it to get his ebay fees back etc . (actually if he needs to report it you need to mutually cancel the transaction).

Ignore the " unpaid item" warning. You wont run into issues with ebay fees.

HTH

just mark it as paid and archive it?

SoupDragon · 24/06/2013 14:08

Have you told the seller that the purchase was made by a hacker?

SusieSusieSheep · 24/06/2013 21:20

I haven't yet soup I was considering it but it seemed unnecessary when ebay were telling me they would just delete it for me.

The seller probably thinks you are a non paying bidder. I think this is best sorted out between you and the seller - and is most likely easier and more likely to be done quickly :)

ebay have an online chat with customer services, you can try them they are super helpful.

you can cancel your bid or winning bids on an item citing that your account was hacked. This will also inform the seller of this, then you take it from there with ebay go through a I am who I say I am process.

SusieSusieSheep · 25/06/2013 18:41

12th that is exactly what I have done, three times. It was over the phone and every time I put the phone down thinking, "they were helpful" and every time it hasnt been cancelled. I would love to make a proper complaint to ebay about all this but I don't really know how. If I have to ring up yet again I might ask if it can be treated as an official complaint about customer services.
