eBay Novice

i have been sorting through my wardrobe and have a number of things that have never been worn, or only once or twice. Some I'm sending to charity, but there are a few really nice items, so I thought I might try to sell them on eBay.

I haven't used eBay at all, so I was wondering if you could give me some advice. Any tips, ideas and possible pitfalls to avoid.

I'm hoping it is straight forward, but guessing it might not be.

It is easy. Just take good photos, showing the clothes off to their best. Have a look at other pics on ebay to see what you think are good and bad examples. I have bought quite a bit off ebay and find I go more for people that are really honest about what they're selling and have great pics, so I can get a good look at what I'm buying.

DH has done a lot of selling on ebay and has always found it stress free. Just think about what you want to do about P&P and make sure that price you put on, is what it costs.

end stuff at 8.30pm-9pm on Mon or Tues, use MyHermes or Collect+ if under 1kg - cheaper and proof of delivery, list any faults, put measurements, add lots of photos which show whole garment, on a hanger with plain background is far better than creased on the floor/bed.

I don't sell but have bought things on ebay. Calculate your postage and packaging carefully and be aware of the differences between a thicker package being the difference between a Small or a Medium parcel. Send recorded delivery so you can track it as a matter of course.

recorded will prob be more money than MyHermes or Collect+ and very often posties don't bother with a signature. MyHermes is £3.30 with proof of delivery and they come and collect, way cheaper and more reliable than RM.
